Swords Castle, Award Winning Conservation Works
Kelbuild Ltd. have been appointed as Main Contractor and Project Supervisor Construction Stage for Conservation Works to Swords Castle.
Description of Works
This Project included both Restoration and New Build work to a number of areas within the Castle Grounds.
The existing stonework to the top of the East Tower had become extremely unstable and a large bulge had developed on the East side of it. The entire East Tower was scaffolded and a large section of the East Tower original stone work was taken down and rebuilt. Each stone was surveyed, recorded and numbered to ensure exact location for rebuild. The stonework was then pointed with Lime Pointing and a Lime Shelter Coat was placed over the entire East Tower.
