Market House Clock Tower, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
We were privileged to complete conservation works on the Market House in Mullingar in late 2020.
Upgrades were being carried to the iconic clock tower – dating back to 1867 – which had become badly weathered over the years.
The timber louvers and the lead needed to be replaced to comply with building standard regulations and were reinforced with a steel frame. In addition, parts of the weather vane on the top the tower were badly corroded.
The weather vane was restored to its original condition.
While the tower was being rebuilt, the clock was removed for specialist cleaning and restoration.
